THOU SHALT NOT is a commandment. In other words it means "you mustn't ACTIVELY"
in other words "Thou Shalt Not Kill" means don't actively kill someone. It doesn't mean don't inadvertently cause death. That would be rendered by "Death must not be caused". Thou shalt not is an active instruction, not a passive one. A passive rendering would likely be: Thou Must Not Cause Death. The reason why there are 10 commandments from God is to draw attention to the difference between actively (intentionally) or passively (unintentionally or unknowingly) doing something. The Bible is deliberately making clear this distinction.
(There are also THOU SHALT commandments, again implying doing ACTIVELY; it is not good enough to smack or hit someone as a natural reaction to them annoying you which may occur naturally/with un-planned passive involvementĀ  under those circumstances THOU SHALT BEAT HIM WITH THE ROD... implies ACTIVELY BEATING THE MALE WITH A CANE OR STICK not as a reaction but as a command.(See adjacent Project: "Let Me Demonstrate") I believe this is why they cane boys in schools and there should be caning men in universities and work-places by bosses who are qualified to do this. I also believe this is why men should wear a shirt and tie as this is linked to cane beatings, which men need. It may also increase tendencies of homosexuality and enjoying homosexual attraction, a sin which is cleansed through Christ's death.)
Again. I believe the purpose of commandments is not to do something, or else... it is to differentiate between doing something actively or passively as God knows we enjoy life better if we do things with a strong purpose, rather than doing something because we have to. If we have to, it is for the aim of enjoying doing something with a purpose, not because it is a commandment.

Why? I am not a fundamentalist or an evangelical but I do believe following Biblical Principles makes life fairer more meaningful, more rewarding and more correct. I also believe in a restoration of Biblical Values for everyones benefit, which God wants to happen. But it must happen correctly, there are no short-cuts or trying to restore by being un-just and I do not believe it is necessary to guarantee any type of after-life or judgement, which needs to happen IN this life. Why? For our enjoyment and fairness.
